These original pieces are as yet unframed and are priced accordingly. Batik, like other textile work, needs to be stretched into its frame as the wax impregnated fabric is particularly susceptible to ‘bagging’ (wax expands when warm and contracts when cold). If the work is subsequently to be back-lit, it must first be backed with white fabric to defuse the lights and the moulding chosen must be deep enough to house the lights within the thickness of the frame.
