lampshades for sale in the wharf gallery
‘Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful’ – William Morris
I have been making lampshades for over thirty years, designing new ones to commission, and repeating designs to order. All are individually hand done so no two lampshades ever turn out the same, even when designs are repeated.
When laid flat, they are large pieces of work which take me a long time to create. As I have often said about making lampshades, “doing the Batik is the easy bit – getting work which may have taken me weeks to complete, safely onto its frame – now that is stressful!”
Each of my hand-made Batik original lampshades is created on 100% cotton fabric and mounted onto copper-plated wire frames, hand bound with white tape. The centre mounting for the bulb is 1″ in diameter and can swivel to suit either ceiling hanging or for use on a table lamp.
Most of my lampshades are now sold and decorating homes all over the world but there are still a few remaining in the Gallery available for sale.
