This is a detail from the centre of a canon wheel at the Tower of London. I designed the image specially for the Tower of London for mounting in paperweights, for them to sell in their gift shop.
Batik has a lot of the visual qualities of stained glass when it is back-lit. This is because the wax in the fabric makes the work translucent. Now, framed and with its own light -box, this piece is really comes alive.
This piece is currently for sale in my ’50 Years of Batik’ exhibition
