lampshades for sale in the wharf gallery
When laid flat, they are large pieces of work which take me a long time to create. Although I'm often tempted to say 'no more', they look so good on display in the gallery, I have vowed to continue making them as long as the stocks of frames last . As I have often said about making lampshades, "doing the Batik is the easy bit - getting work which may have taken me weeks to complete, safely onto its frame - now that is stressful!"
Each of my hand-made Batik original lampshades is created on 100% cotton fabric and mounted onto copper-plated wire frames, hand bound with white tape. The centre mounting for the bulb is 1" in diameter and can swivel to suit either ceiling hanging or for use on a table lamp.
Most of my lampshades are now sold and decorating homes all over the world but I still make some for sale in the gallery. These days I create lampshades just to commission and will only continue making them until my dwindling stock of frames finally runs out.
